Deb Bissonnette, CNM, MSN

Deb earned her BSN and MSN at Nazareth College of Rochester and SUNY Stony Brook, respectively.

She has lived in New York all of her life, moving to Montour Falls in 2001, when she was hired by Schuyler Hospital to attend births in the free standing Birth Center and the hospital.  Deb transitioned into private practice from hospital employment on April 1, 2006.  In early 2011, Deb made yet another transition, this time to home birth practice.  She is passionate about providing women with multiple health choices and is particularly focused on nutrition and birth.

She enjoys many other interests in her time away from work: music (an accomplished flutist), cooking, reading, yoga, horseback riding and landscape, architectural and interior design.  Midwife Deb also loves animals and has several "pets" including her adorable miniature dachshund, Henri, lovely Coton de Tulear, Sophia, a beautiful Arab-Percheron horse, Jeb, and Birman cat, Jett.

 

 
April Ward

April Ward, DM, CNM, MSN

April earned her baccalaureate degree from Vassar College and her MSN degree from Vanderbilt University. She completed her midwifery training in 2001, after working at freestanding birth centers in Tennessee and Florida. She became board certified as a nurse-midwife and has been a licensed midwife in New York since 2002. She gained valuable experience as a hospital-based midwife for 17 years. Since 2014, she has also owned a private practice offering integrative women’s health care. She joined September Hill Midwifery in 2019 in order to return to her passion for community birth. April earned her Doctor of Midwifery (DM) degree from Jefferson University in 2021.

April lives in Skaneateles, NY and Hector, NY with her family. She has four daughters - all born with the help of midwives. April has special interests in herbal healing and hormone health across the lifespan. She enjoys growing and wildcrafting herbs, reading, hiking, and spending time by the water.
